Return to Lauralton Hall!

Thank you to all the students, alumnae, and their families, who made the trip to @lauraltonhall1905 this week for my author talk! Thank you to LH Head of School, Beth Coyne, and Nicole Benson in partnership with @rjjulia bookstore for organizing the event. And special thanks to Mrs. Gallagher for being my in conversation partner. 

It was wonderful to see former teachers and answer questions from the audience about my writing journey. I so enjoyed connecting with readers and other Lauralton Ladies. I am truly humble to be part of such a community.

Bold, Beautiful, and Black: The Exploress Podcast

I had a wonderful time with the author of #Nightbirds, Kate J. Armstrong, on her podcast, The Exploress, about the strong women in #TheDavenports and the research that brought them to life!

I wanted THE DAVENPORTS to hold up examples of representation I wish I’d had as a teen, to focus on four young Black women discovering the courage to pursue their dreams—and loves—at a time when Jim Crow, fear, and distrust threatened both. And really, who doesn’t adore a grand estate, a glamorous ball, and a juicy romance or four?
